KÜNSTLER_IN ON DEMAND

As part of the joint work KOD / Künstler_In on demand I look into (self-) representations of artists* in society using the media of painting. All compositions are based on the three colours umbra, cadmium red and chrome dioxide green in different blends with white.

In different media we examine, in which way artists picture themselves. Which images document being an artist in society? We ask what function art can still have today, but also what strategies artists themselves invent in order to be perceived; what they have to do in order to survive.
Through our own work familiar with numerous artist vitae of our time, we combine this knowledge with a reflection of artistic creation. To this end, we put objects, photographs, drawings and fragments of works by our colleagues into dialogue with painted representations of artists as well as with each other.

Wall installation Mixed media, dimensions variable with a multi-part picture series by Mona Jas (different formats on canvas) and objects, drawings and photographs by Holger Friese, which are installed site-specifically in relation to each other.
